Easy A

Every own film history has its own film arts. It might be different when due to different kind of generation era. So films that are produced within a particular period or nation might share a significant traits of style and form. Feminism theory is the relationship between men and women has almost always been unequal and oppressive. The feminist movement fights for equal rights and opportunities for women. There are many different kinds of feminism and feminists themselves tend to disagree about the ways in which women are disadvantaged and what exactly should be done to get equal rights.

There are few history that how female fight for their equal right from the past. The First Wave is among 19th century and early 20th century. UK & US won improved rights for women in marriage and property. Its biggest achievement was winning some political power. In the UK the Suffragettes and Suffragists campaigned for the women’s vote. In 1918, women over thirty who owned property won the vote and in 1928 it was extended to all women over twenty-one. Secondly, the Second Wave is around 1960s & 1970s. It extended the fight beyond political rights to education, work and the home. Thirdly, the Third Wave is from 1990 till nowadays generation, some argue that seeing the history of feminism in just these three waves can ignore the fight for equal rights but for the fact that women are still unequal, by getting women to accept their unequal position in society.

There are few types of archetype that people define female as strong female, femme fatale, good wife, blondes, brunettes and etc. Some of it defined oppression, stereotype, objectification and patriarchy. Oppression is you can’t do anything even you don’t like it, when people think she is like this, she is being oppress by the people who think she is like that. Stereotype is means prejudice and generalization people by the male towards female. Objectification is how people place women as an object, normally from the television people place women as an sexual intonation. Next is patriarchy  means last time generation, people will just follow what their father said, as father is the powerful person in a family at those old time generation.

Easy A is about high school student Olive, she is a nice girl who studies hard, gets good grades, has a witty personality but cannot seem really get noticed by her peers in school and Olive had no choice and had to lie to her best friend, Rhiannon. When Rhiannon assumes that Oliver lost her virginity to a college guy which Oliver made up, the rumor spreads very fast about Oliver losing her virginity. Through all this the rumors at her school, it changes her social status and reputation through many white lies and changes in her personality and attitude. Her life soon starts paralleling that of Hester Prynne's in the novel the Scarlet Letter, which she is currently studying in English class.

In the movie, "Easy A", there are few people that portray out the female representation. - Olive is the main representation as she is smart that she do not lost her virginity towards anyone even though there are rumours that spread out and said she sex with many different kind of guys. She is independent, she solved every problem that she faced in her life even though people use to call her slut. But actually she is kind and sympathetic, she just want to help those guys who needed her help. Olive is not a stereotypical female as she prefers to be her own self and do not conform herself to the societies expectations. This movie shown that female was easily stereotypes by others based on rumors spread. People assume that she had slept with those people who deal with her using money and therefore people look down on her.

Besides that, her best friends, Rhiannon and other girls think that she is horrible for doing this of deal and judge her behavior as a slut. But Olive does not conform to what people expect on how to behave as a girl instead of standing out and embrace her reputation. Moreover, she is not afraid on how people judge on her and she dare to fight back towards those people who look down on her. In addition, Olive's family do not have the dominant patriarchal system despite the fact that her dad plays a prominent role. Her parents is quite open minded and whatever topic they can discuss among the family members.

In conclusion, we as a female, we should stand out as a strong type of female. Last but not least, we should not let people look down on female even though in the society nowadays people still look down on female that female still can't do something that male did.
